Rachel Foster is an Associate Attorney at Dr. Ted Injury Law, where she handles a wide range of personal injury cases from the firm's Charleston, South Carolina office. Specializing in motor vehicle accidents, bicycle and pedestrian injuries, and boating accidents, Rachel brings youthful energy, sharp analytical skills, and a deep connection to the Lowcountry community to her practice. Rachel was born and raised in Mount Pleasant, South Carolina, just across the Arthur Ravenel Jr. Bridge from historic downtown Charleston. Growing up in the Lowcountry, she developed a love for the region's natural beauty, rich history, and tight-knit communities. Her interest in law was sparked during high school when she volunteered at the Charleston Legal Access Project, helping low-income residents navigate basic legal issues. That experience showed her the transformative power of legal advocacy and set her on a path to become an attorney. Rachel attended the College of Charleston, where she majored in Communications with a minor in Pre-Law and graduated magna cum laude. Her strong communication skills serve her well in her legal career, both in crafting persuasive legal arguments and in building rapport with clients, opposing counsel, and jurors. After college, Rachel enrolled at the Charleston School of Law, where she was a standout student. She served as president of the Student Trial Advocacy Board, won the school's intramural mock trial competition, and graduated in the top 10 percent of her class. During law school, Rachel interned at the Ninth Circuit Solicitor's Office, where she assisted with victim advocacy in violent crime cases, and at a well-known Charleston personal injury firm, where she discovered her passion for representing injured victims. She joined Dr. Ted Injury Law shortly after passing the South Carolina bar exam in 2019. Despite being one of the younger attorneys at the firm, Rachel has already compiled an impressive track record. She has recovered more than $15 million for her clients in just five years of practice. Her notable results include a $1.4 million settlement for a cyclist who was doored by a negligent driver on King Street, a $1.1 million recovery for a tourist struck by a speeding moped in downtown Charleston, and a $975,000 settlement for a family injured in a boating accident in Charleston Harbor when another vessel operator was found to be intoxicated. Rachel's practice includes a particular focus on boating accident cases, which are common in the coastal communities of South Carolina and Georgia. She has developed expertise in maritime personal injury law, including the complex jurisdictional issues that can arise when accidents occur on navigable waters. She works with marine accident investigators and coast guard records to build strong cases for her clients. Rachel is a member of the South Carolina Association for Justice, the Charleston County Bar Association, and the South Carolina Women Lawyers Association. She was named a South Carolina Super Lawyers Rising Star in 2023 and was recognized by Charleston Scene magazine as one of Charleston's Rising Legal Stars. Outside of the office, Rachel is deeply involved in the Charleston community. She volunteers with the Charleston Waterkeeper organization, helping protect the region's waterways and marine habitats. She is also a volunteer attorney for the Lowcountry Legal Volunteers, providing pro bono legal services to underserved residents. Rachel serves as a mentor for undergraduate students at her alma mater who are interested in pursuing legal careers. Rachel lives in the Harleston Village neighborhood of downtown Charleston with her rescue cat, Gullah. She is an avid paddleboarder, enjoys exploring the Lowcountry's barrier islands, and is a regular at the Charleston Farmers Market on Saturday mornings. She is also a passionate advocate for cycling infrastructure and serves on the City of Charleston's Bicycle and Pedestrian Advisory Committee. On fall Saturdays, you can find her cheering on the College of Charleston Cougars or tailgating at a Clemson game with friends.
