David Kim serves as Of Counsel at Dr. Ted Injury Law, bringing nearly three decades of experience in complex product liability, dangerous drug, and catastrophic injury litigation. Based in the firm's Atlanta office, David is one of the most experienced mass tort and product liability attorneys in the Southeast, with a track record that includes landmark cases against some of the nation's largest corporations. David was born in Seoul, South Korea, and immigrated to the United States with his family at the age of five, settling in the Duluth area of suburban Atlanta. His parents operated a dry cleaning business, working long hours to build a life in their adopted country. David credits his parents' work ethic and sacrifice as the foundation of everything he has achieved. David earned his undergraduate degree in Economics from the Georgia Institute of Technology, where he graduated with highest honors. He then pursued a joint J.D./M.B.A. program at Emory University, earning both degrees simultaneously. This dual training in law and business gives David a sophisticated understanding of corporate decision-making, regulatory compliance, and the economic analysis that often drives complex litigation. After law school, David spent 15 years at a major Atlanta defense firm, where he represented Fortune 500 companies in product liability litigation. In 2013, he made the deliberate decision to switch sides, joining the plaintiffs' bar because he wanted to use his deep knowledge of corporate defense strategies to help injured consumers fight back. His insider understanding of how large corporations and their insurers approach litigation gives him a significant strategic advantage in every case he handles. Since transitioning to plaintiffs' work and affiliating with Dr. Ted Injury Law in 2018, David has recovered more than $75 million for clients harmed by defective products, dangerous drugs, and corporate negligence. His notable cases include a $5.4 million settlement against a major pharmaceutical company for injuries caused by an improperly labeled medication, a $4.2 million recovery for a construction worker permanently injured by a defective power tool, and a $3.8 million verdict against an auto manufacturer for a defective airbag system that failed to deploy in a collision. David is currently involved in several ongoing mass tort litigations, including cases involving defective medical devices, toxic chemical exposure, and contaminated consumer products. He works closely with co-counsel across the country and serves on several plaintiffs' steering committees in multi-district litigation proceedings. David's legal acumen has earned him significant recognition. He has been named to the Georgia Super Lawyers list since 2015, has been selected for inclusion in The Best Lawyers in America for product liability litigation, and is a member of the American Association for Justice's Product Liability Section. He is also a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America, a trial lawyer honorary society limited to 3,500 fellows nationwide. Beyond his legal practice, David is a respected voice in the product safety advocacy community. He serves on the board of the Georgia chapter of the Consumer Product Safety Alliance and has testified before state legislative committees on product safety legislation. He is also an adjunct professor at Emory University School of Law, where he teaches a seminar on advanced product liability litigation. David is an active member of the Asian American Bar Association of Georgia, where he served as president from 2019 to 2021. He is also a board member of the Atlanta chapter of the National Asian Pacific American Bar Association. David and his wife, Jennifer, a pediatrician, live in the Buckhead neighborhood of Atlanta with their two children. Outside of work, David is an avid golfer, a history enthusiast, and a dedicated Atlanta United FC supporter. He also volunteers with the International Rescue Committee's Atlanta office, helping newly arrived refugees navigate the American legal system.
